Frequently asked questions

Common questions about the MMA Future Score and ranking methodology.

Does the score predict who wins?

No. The MMA Future Score is a retrospective performance metric, not a predictive model. It tells you how well a fighter has performed relative to their competition — not who will win next.

Why does a fighter’s score go up after a loss?

Because the score measures performance quality, not just the outcome. A competitive loss against elite opposition can still improve a fighter’s rating if the underlying metrics are strong.

How do short-notice fights affect scoring?

Short-notice bouts carry adjusted weighting. We account for preparation time and opponent changes so fighters aren’t overly penalized (or rewarded) for late replacements.

Can I suggest a correction?

Yes. If you spot an error in results, opponent mapping, or event data, contact us with a link and we’ll review it in the next update cycle.

How often do rankings update?

Rankings refresh weekly, with post-event updates typically applied within 48 hours after an event concludes.

Does promotion strength matter?

Yes. We apply a promotion-depth factor so performance in deeper talent pools is calibrated appropriately, while still rewarding dominant in-cage output.

Is MMA Future affiliated with the UFC?

No. MMA Future is an independent analytics project and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the UFC or any other promotion.
